Is Your Well Water…Well?

Is your well water safe to drink? A recent report from Ontario’s Auditor General, Shelley Spence, revealed a concerning statistic: of the 1.3 million people in Ontario who rely on well-water, fewer than one-third of are conducting regular tests on their drinking water!

In Port Colborne, it’s easy to get a test kit. Visit City Hall Monday to Thursday, from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm and pick up a test kit and follow the instructions. Once you have your well water sample, drop it off back at City Hall, and you’ll receive a report on the quality of your well water courtesy of the Niagara Region!

For more information about the Auditor General’s report, read this CBC article.

Please continue to take steps to understand and mitigate risks to our drinking water. The NWPA, alongside our dedicated supporters, will relentlessly pursue our mission to ensure the safety, quality, and sustainability of our Onondaga aquifer drinking water source for generations to come!
